Celebrating Certified Nurses
From Dr. Larry Antonucci, President & Chief Executive Officer of Lee Health
Nursing, like health care in general, has become increasingly complex. Pursuing additional knowledge and experience through board certification helps nurses remain on the leading edge while demonstrating their commitment to excellence.
Lee Health is proud to have nurses throughout our health system who have earned and maintained the highest credentials in their specialty.
On March 19 – Certified Nurses Day™ – we join hospitals and health systems worldwide to honor and celebrate nurses who contribute to advancing high-quality care and better patient outcomes through their national board certification.
Certified nurses can be found in units, departments and facilities throughout Lee Health. Cape Coral Hospital, for example, was recently honored with a designation from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) called CNOR® Strong because at least 50% of their operating room nurses earned perioperative nursing certification.
Certification, including CNOR®, helps nurses improve and validate their knowledge and skills and enables them to grow and develop professionally. Certification is an objective, measurable way to acknowledge the achievement of specialty knowledge beyond basic nursing preparation and registered nurse (RN) licensure.
Lee Health recognizes the value certification brings to nurses – instilling greater confidence, demonstrating professionalism and providing well-deserved recognition.
We encourage our nurses to pursue certification as another way of demonstrating their passion for providing the safest, highest quality care – and we appreciate, celebrate and honor their extra effort.
