Find your purpose, fulfill your mission

When you start your day with a clear purpose and mission, then everything you do has meaning. Purpose-driven living helps define what’s important to you. Why does your life matter? What is the cause or belief system that inspires you? What do you want to accomplish before it’s too late?

By redefining what brings you joy in life, you will eventually see transformation, stability, and fulfillment, leading you to plan and live the life of your dreams.

Lee Health is part of a major cultural shift in health and healing, and once community members find their “why,” they can begin to prevent conditions before they happen. The simple truth: We don’t have to be sick as we age. Education is the key to our collective success. Let us help you get there.

Learn to rest, prepare for life’s challenges

During sleep, our bodies work to support healthy brain function and maintain our physical health. Many of us don’t give ourselves the proper amount of sleep or place the right amount of importance on it. And our modern world makes sleep even harder with stress, anxiety, and addiction to electronics -- all of which may lead to widespread insomnia. Getting enough sleep helps protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.

Nutrition, exercise, stress relief, and lifestyle changes promote relaxation and balance – which leads to better sleep. With our help, you will learn to identify everyday factors and behaviors that keep you from getting the right amount of rest.

Some quick sleep tips:

  • Adults working eight hours a day should get eight hours of sleep.
  • People in their 70s should get seven hours of sleep. Remember: a nap during the day is normal.

For children:

  • A 12-month-old should get 11+1, which is 11 hours of sleep overnight, plus a 1-hour nap during the day.
  • A 10-year-old should get 10 hours of sleep overnight.
  • High-schoolers should get nine hours of sleep.

Sleep Medicine services

Training and education fix bad habits, and our Sleep Medicine program diagnoses and treats adults and pediatric sleep disorders at three convenient locations. HealthPark Medical Center offers the only dedicated pediatric sleep studies program between Tampa and Miami. Sleep studies for adults take place at The Outpatient Center at Plantation (12 years and older).

A physician’s referral is required.

  • Sleep diagnostics
  • Therapeutic interventions
  • CPAP Clinic
  • PAP desensitization sessions

Common conditions treated

Do you have one of these conditions? Your physician may refer you to the Sleep Medicine program:

  • Sleep apnea (cessation of breathing during sleep)
  • Infants with possible apnea
  • Infants at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Inability to initiate and maintain sleep (insomnia)
  • Excessive snoring
  • Oxygenation or chronic breathing problems
  • Esophageal Reflux (pediatric, adult)
  • Narcolepsy (sudden, uncontrollable sleep)

Harness your inner strength

Stop for a moment and take a deep breath.

Work, family, money, technology, politics, relationships – the pressure piles up and gets to all of us. Many of us fight silent battles each day against stress and anxiety. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Managing stress is essential for finding a sense of hope and purpose. Learning to harness the strength of your mind opens up the power of possibilities for the rest of your life.

Chronic stress leads to chronic problems: Irritability, weight gain or loss, and even stroke or heart disease. Left untreated, stress quickly takes over your life and feeds on itself, putting up dangerous roadblocks wherever you turn. But you have the power to take your life back. Let our experts help you find that perfect outlet.

Stress management services

Talking to your primary care physician is the perfect start. They will listen with compassion and prescribe medication, suggest dietary changes, and put you on an exercise plan, if necessary. They also make referrals to behavioral and mental health specialists who will root out the cause of your stress and provide techniques to battle anxiety.

The Healthy Life Center- Coconut Point location feature seminars on stress relief, and you will also have the chance to take a yoga or meditation class, or learn the latest techniques in relaxation. Acupuncture and massage therapy help ease anxiety.

Whether it’s traffic, work, or a relationship, health experts say stress is normal and can be triggered by anything. “Stress is not necessarily a bad thing, it’s when we have unmanaged stress that goes on for unrelenting periods of time that it becomes a problem,” explained Jayme Hodges, director of behavioral health at Lee Health.
