U.S. News Rates Lee Health Hospitals as High Performing

From Dr. Stephanie Stovall, Lee Health’s chief clinical officer quality/patient safety and hospital-based care

Every day, I am proud of the high-quality, leading-edge, collaborative, patient-centered care our team members provide to the community.

Lee Health has earned several national recognitions this year and one of the most recent, which is from U.S. News & World Report, is an endorsement that our hard work and dedication to continuously providing this kind of care is paying off.

Lee Memorial Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center and Gulf Coast Medical Center earned recognition as a 2022-2023 Best Regional Hospital in Florida by U.S. News & World Report, in addition to being rated as High Performing. Cape Coral Hospital was also awarded a High Performing rating.

HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital are ranked #12 in the state and Gulf Coast Medical Center is ranked #15. U.S. News & World Report evaluated 247 hospitals in Florida to determine these rankings.

Cape Coral Hospital, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital all earned High Performing ratings in five medical procedures and conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, heart failure, stroke and kidney failure. Additionally, Gulf Coast Medical Center, HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital earned High Performing ratings in heart attack, hip replacement and knee replacement.

Gulf Coast Medical Center also earned a High Performing rating in colon cancer surgery, and HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital are rated as High Performing in heart bypass surgery and lung cancer surgery.

The rating of High Performing by U.S. News & World Report recognizes excellence in one or more types of medical care. Of the more than 6,000 adult hospitals in the U.S., fewer than 2,200 earned even a single High Performing rating.

The annual U.S. News “Best Hospitals” analysis reviews facilities' performance in clinical specialties, conditions and procedures. Scores are based on several factors, including patient safety, survival, nurse staffing and more. Hospitals are ranked nationally and regionally within states and major metro areas. According to U.S. News, each hospital's performance is evaluated using a variety of measures, including data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and information from the American Hospital Association and professional organizations.

We are very proud to be recognized in this way, and I want to thank our teams for all that they do each and every day to provide award-winning care to our community.
