About our CME Program

Our Mission

Lee Health, being dedicated to provide quality primary, secondary, and selected tertiary healthcare services to the citizens of Lee County and surrounding counties of Southwest Florida, supports Continuing Medical Education for physicians and allied health professionals.

The purpose of the Continuing Medical Education program is to provide ongoing, easily accessible, current and relevant educational offerings that meet the needs of physicians and allied health professionals in Lee County and surrounding counties. The CME program strives to provide innovative, evidence-based education that will increase knowledge, skills, and professional performance to promote the delivery of safe and effective health care and improve the health status of patients in SW Florida.

Due to the diversity of physician specialties, there is a general focus for education across the specialty spectrum. The educational presentation from local physicians, national faculty and allied health professionals will be of sufficient merit to fully comply with the requirements mandated by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for accredited programs.

Continuing Medical Education for the Lee Health staff, other Florida physicians and retired physicians will be provided by live lecture, specialty conferences, enduring materials, internet Point of Care and the Lee health CME website on the internet. All CME activities are reviewed and approved by the multidisciplinary CME Committee. CME topics are selected from identified needs/practice gaps within the health system and community. Expected results include improving patient care as evidenced by physician perception, practice changes and system quality data. The CME Committee also reviews evaluation summaries bimonthly and quality data as part of the overall program evaluation.

Lee Health offers joint providership to non-CME accredited organization and follows the same planning and evaluation process as direct providership.
