Her name is Caroline Elizabeth Wynn and she was born on 1/20/23. Delivery was fine and everything seem to be normal. It was just very quick. She was transported up here when she was 12 hours old and we were on very little sleep and kind of hearing this news that she has this rare condition and she needs surgery. Dr. Hebra came in and drew us a very helpful diagram of kind of pre-and post surgery and how he corrected the esophagus. I think it’s extremely important to spend enough time understand what their concerns are and try to explain the best way you can so it makes sense so they understand what the challenges are and what the barriers, limitations and risks are and they can be part of the team, and making decisions to the treatment And what the best options are. It is definitely been stressful, but everyone here goes out of their way to make it really as reassuring as possible. The nurses have all become like family to us. She’s made great progress and it’s things to all the doctors and nurses and everyone on her care team. For me, it’s just a tremendous joy to be able to be involved in the care of a baby like Caroline in which you know that you do an operation that has a good outcome and you know for a fact that she will be fine for the rest of her life. Hopefully no one has to go through a Nicu experience, but if anyone did it, I would highly recommend golisano. They’ve been phenomenal in caring for us and our daughter.
