Neurodiagnostic Lab

The Neurodiagnostic lab at Lee Health offers the latest innovations in diagnostic techniques. Our physicians are experts in providing an accurate diagnosis to create an effective treatment plan.

Neurodiagnostic tests and procedures are important tools for physicians. By accurate diagnosis of neurological disorders or other medical conditions, patients can get on the road to recovery more quickly. Some procedures are performed in specialized settings, but many tests are performed conveniently in a physician’s office or our outpatient testing facility.

All of our technologists are credentialed and registered through the Neurodiagnostic Society at ABRET.org.

Neurodiagnostic Procedures and Testing Methods

Our neurosciences program features highly specialized neurodiagnostic testing methods in addition to comprehensive physical evaluations, laboratory tests and imaging exams. Our neurological diagnostic testing methods include:

  • Electroencephalogram (EEG)

An Electroencephalogram or EEG is a test to detect abnormalities in the electrical activity of the brain. EEG is used to help diagnose seizure disorders and metabolic, infectious, or inflammatory disorders that affect the brain’s activity.

  • Evoked Potentials (EP)

Evoked potential (EP) tests measure the electrical signals to the brain generated by hearing, touch, or sight. It can help diagnose such neurological conditions as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and small tumors.

  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

Nerve conduction study (NCS) measures how fast an electrical impulse moves through your nerve. NCS can help tell the difference between a nerve disorder and a muscle disorder as well as identify nerve damage. 

  • Long Term Monitoring (LTM)

Long-term electroencephalographic monitoring (LTM) is the capability of recording the EEG over long periods of time and not a specific duration. Prolonged EEG recording is used primarily for epilepsy monitoring, but can also be used in the intensive care unit, the operating room, and in the emergency department.
