It’s critical that healthcare providers understand your full medical history. Sometimes that can be difficult to remember, but the MyChart app is making it easier than ever. “Mychart is a patient portal where patients can access their healthcare online threw a phone app or on their computer,” said Nurse Practitioner Laura Partlow.
The program has everything that you and your providers need about your health record in one location. “They can see their lab work, they can see the order for lab, and results for labs. They can see anything past visits that’s been discussed with her doctor, they can see the visit summary, they can see their appointments,” said Partlow.
That information is critical for healthcare providers, so they can make the best possible healthcare decisions for you. “It makes a huge difference if you can see what their baseline labs are. Let’s say you want to give an antibiotic, and you’re worried about their kidney function, so if you can see what their kidney function is in their blood work the last month or so it helps with things like that,” said Dr. Karen Calkins.
Often many patients don’t know all the medicine they have been prescribed. Mychart can be a great way to keep things organized. “It keeps an accurate list of your medications. You can update it, so if you stop the medication, you can take it off, if you start a new medication you can add it, and then that is going to follow you to your provider offices,” said Pharmacist Julianna Hennig. You’re also able to communicate with your healthcare provider through Mychart.
Mychart works across the Lee Health system. You can also bring your outside records into it. You can learn more by clicking on the mychart button on the top right corner of leehealth.org or by downloading the mychart app.
