Biography
Wesley H. Faunce, Ill, PhD, MD is a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he excelled in athletic competition. Heading south, he received his PhD from the University of Florida's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, where he also completed his postdoctoral fellowship research. Continuing at Florida, Dr. Faunce earned his medical degree at the College of Medicine and was awarded a Medical Student Research Fellowship. He did his medical internship at the university's Department of Surgery and his residency training at the Department of Neurosurgery.
While at the University of Florida, Dr. Faunce was active in a variety of medically-related endeavors, including serving as Resident Delegate to the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. Dr. Faunce also served as president of the University of Florida's AMA Medical Student Section and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His activities and excellence earned Dr. Faunce the Lyerly Neurosurgery Award. Dr. Faunce is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and was named one of the top 100 surgeons. He was also listed as one of "10 Spine Surgeons to Know" in Becker's Ambulatory Surgery Review.
Dr. Faunce is a board certified neurosurgeon and has current maintenance of certification, which only a fraction of practicing neurosurgeons have earned. This ensures that he is up to date on the most current surgical techniques.
Dr. Faunce has performed over 12,000 operations and has been involved in a variety of medical research studies. He is an accomplished author or co-author of numerous studies, publications and presentations.
