Registration is the process where patients will furnish information such as procedure, insurance information, financial information and anything else that may apply to being admitted into the hospital.

This area is off of the main entrance in Cape Coral Hospital, Lee Memorial, HealthPark Medical Center, and also Gulf Coast Medical Center. In each main entrance, there is an information desk that will be able to guide you to this area.

Speak Up

To Help Prevent Health Care Errors, Patients Are Urged To:

Speak up if you have questions or concerns, and if you don't understand, ask again. It's your body and you have a right to know!

Pay attention to the care you are receiving. Make sure you're getting the right treatments and medications by the right health care professionals. Don't presume anything.

Notice whether your caregivers have cleaned their hands. Make sure your nurse or doctor confirms your identity, checks your wristband or asks your name before he or she administers any medications or treatments.

Educate yourself about your diagnosis, the medical tests you are undergoing, and your treatment plan.

Ask a trusted family member or friend to be your advocate.

Know what medications you take and why you take them.Participate in all decisions about your treatment. Remember, you are the center of the health care team!

Your Hospital Team

Physician/Doctor

During your hospital stay, the physician who admitted you will coordinate your care and treatment. Any questions you have about the illness or condition that prompted your hospitalization should be directed to your doctor.

If you choose to do so you may request to have the physician who is treating you in the hospital consult with your primary care provider or with another specialist when developing your plan of care. Please let your physician know that you would like them to consult your PCP or specialist.

Physician Assistant/Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse (PA and APRN)

Physician assistants and advanced practitioner registered nurses work hand in hand with doctors to deliver timely care. These professionals have medical training, experience, and the certification to diagnose, order tests and treatment, and prescribe medications. They work under a doctor’s supervision.

Hospitalists

Lee Health offers an established team of highly qualified and experienced physicians known as hospitalists. Our hospitalists are physicians, either a medical doctor (M.D.) or osteopathic doctor (D.O.) that specializes in caring for patients while in the hospital. Having a hospitalist on your medical team means a physician is available when care is needed, 24 hours a day during the hospital stay.

Nurses and Patient Care Staff

Our hospital team provides 24-hour patient care. A nursing director oversees and coordinates the nursing care on your unit. He or she supervises key members of your health care team, which includes professional registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse assistants, and unit secretaries.

Guest Service

Our Guest Service offices are open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are closed during the holidays and on weekends. If your situation is emergent and you have reached out to us during non-business hours, please call 239-343-1000 and ask to speak to the Charge Nurse for the unit the patient is on. If you or your family have questions or concerns at any time during your stay, please contact the guest services at your hospital.

Dietitian

Our registered dietitians work closely with you and your physician to ensure we meet your nutritional needs. They also are available on request to talk with you personally about your current and future nutritional needs.

Pharmacist

Pharmacists work in partnership with your physician and nurses to provide appropriate medication therapy for you based on your condition. The pharmacy supplies all medications for patients while they are hospitalized and monitors drug therapy for potential drug interactions.

The pharmacists, along with our dietitians, have developed a Food and Drug Interaction pamphlet, which will be given to you prior to discharge. This pamphlet summarizes major potential food and drug interactions. If you have any questions about food and drug interactions, be sure to ask your physician, nurse, dietitian, or pharmacist.

The Pharmacy Department cannot fill prescriptions for patients outside of the hospital setting.

Volunteers

Lee Health has an extensive staff of volunteers whose compassion and skills make them cherished team members. These special members of our community provide a variety of services throughout each hospital, including answering phones, staffing information desks, and delivering patient mail and flowers. They make an important difference in the lives of patients, physicians, and other hospital staff.

Financial Arrangements

We participate with most major insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid. We will work with your insurance plan to determine how your bill will be paid.

Please familiarize yourself with the terms of your insurance coverage. Your plan may have special requirements such as a second surgical opinion or pre-certification of certain tests or procedures. Please make sure the requirements of your plan have been met!

If you have no insurance coverage, you or a family member can contact a representative in our Business Office to discuss financial arrangements. Our representative will work in conjunction with programs such as Medicaid, Vocational Rehabilitation, and others to help!
