Sarah Rinke, MD

Hi, I'm Dr. Sarah Rienke, I'm a general pediatric surgeon here at Golisano. I am originally from Vidalia, Georgia, the home of the Sweet Onions. So I joined Lee Health in 2023. The main draw for me here was the incredible group of pediatric surgeons that were already here. I wanted a supportive team atmosphere, a group of partners that I could trust and lean on. And I really enjoyed my time here looking at the hospital, all of the team, other team members as far as other providers and other physicians throughout Golisano. And as far as the community feel, I really wanted a smaller town feel, somewhere where I could get to know my patients and their families. So I decided to become a pediatric surgeon all the way back in my first year of medical school. I was able to shadow some pediatric surgeons during my general surgery rotations and saw the incredible breadth and depth of surgery that they did. And that really drew me to pediatric surgery, being able to take care of the tiniest, tiniest infants all the way up to adult-sized teenagers. That was really interesting to me. And we get to see the full depth of anomalies and different congenital things that we can fix. And so we really do fix children, and if I do my job correctly, they never know they had a surgeon. And so that is a really incredible thing for me. So when I'm not working, I am chasing after my toddler. He keeps me very, very busy, and we do a lot of things in the community that he enjoys. We spend a lot of time at Lakes Park riding the choo-choo train. We spend time at the local water parks, swimming, going to the beaches, boating, really just enjoying all that Fort Myers has to offer.
