Volunteer Opportunities Cape Coral Hospital

We have many volunteer opportunities throughout the hospital for you. All of our positions require good customer services skills along with the desire to make a positive difference for our patients, families and staff. 

Volunteer shifts are commonly 8:00-12:00, 12:00-4:00, 4:00-8:00. Shifts are subject to change based on area needs. 


Cape Coral Hospital

  • Ambassador -This volunteer position is stationed at the hospital main entrance to provide our guests with a warm welcome and assist, escort and transport guests by wheelchair into the hospital. 
  • Blood Donor Center – The donor center is located in one of the medical buildings on campus. This position provides a warm reception to donors as they enter the Center as well as assisting staff with clerical duties and running errands. 
  • Central Supply/Warehouse – For those people that like to be on the move. This position requires a keen sense of direction and the ability to make package deliveries to departments throughout the facility. 
  • Central Transport (patient) – Do you have a gift for conversation and want to get a little exercise too? Join us and transport patients via wheelchair and run errands throughout the hospital.
  • Child Development Center –Are you missing working with children. Join our childcare staff and assist children with fun activities in the classroom.
  • Clerical/Administrative Support – Work closely with staff in this support role. Greet guests, answer phones, run errands, and may be responsible for light computer work.
  • Emergency Department (patient) – Provide comfort and direction to patients and guests as they enter the Emergency Department. Assist staff and patients through the registration process and in the waiting area.  May also assist inside the Emergency Department treatment area visiting with patients, assisting staff with room turnover, stocking supplies and running errands.
  • Patient Unit Volunteers (patient) - Visit with patients and family as you move throughout the unit. Assist during mealtime, fill water pitchers, stock supplies and run errands. Assist with non-clinical tasks.
  • Folkswagon Drivers –Move throughout the parking lot to provide golf cart rides to and from the facilities on the campus. Greet guests, and provide safe and courteous transportation of passengers. Must have driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Food & Nutrition Service  - Greet and assist cafeteria guests and staff with food service, maintenance of the dining area, stocking supplies and may assist staff with food delivery to patients.
  • Gift Shop and Uniform Store Thrift Shop - Greet and assist customers. Process sales at the register, price merchandise, and stock inventory. All money raised supports the Hospital Auxiliary.
  • Mail Room - Process mail for the hospital.  Will include light computer work. Sort mail into cubicles by department. Look up patient room numbers and deliver mail. Assist with staff projects, mass mailings. 
  • Medical Library - Greet and assist staff and guests in hospital library.
  • Outpatient Lab - Greet and assist patients and families in the waiting area and as they check in to the lab.
  • Patient Recreation (patient) - Move throughout the hospital visiting with patients. Offer conversation, playing cards, magazines, books, personal supplies (combs, hair ties, reading glasses), etc..
  • Pet Therapy (patient) -  Move throughout the hospital visiting with patients, guests/staff. Must have Certification with Alliance of Therapy Dogs or an approved pet therapy organization. Dog must be at least 1-year of age and pass observation testing within the hospital.
  • Surgery/Post Op/ Endoscopy (patient) - Greet and assist patients and family in the surgery waiting room area. Offer hospitality services and assist with escorting or transporting patients and guests. Assist surgery waiting room staff.
  • Visiting Veteran Program (patient) - Move throughout the hospital visiting with patients that are veterans. Thank them for their service and direct them to any resources they may need. Will require Red Cross and Lee Health volunteer training.

Offsite Facilities (Apply Through CCH)

  • LPG Physician Offices -  Provide support in Physician office, greeting customers, answering phones, doing light computer work, filing, making copies, etc. Pine Island, Cape Coral Pkwy.
  • Surfside Offices: Breast Center/Outpatient Lab – Greet and assist with patient registration, patient escort into the department, and provide hospitality services.
