Below are the job opportunities for our volunteers to choose from. Jobs are classified as patient contact where you will have direct patient contact or non-patient contact where you will be providing support services. Work shifts typically run 8:00-12:00, 12:00-4:00, 4:00-8:00 (some exceptions). Shifts are subject to change based on staffing and scheduling needs.


Lee Memorial Hospital

  • Ambassador & Ambassador Transporter (non-patient) - Welcome and escort patients/visitors to their destination, assist information desk volunteers and staff
  • Arts in HealthCare (patient) - Includes all forms of art. Examples include: craft projects with patients at the bedside, helping with community art shows, clowning and musicians
  • Bright Ideas Gift Shop (non-patient) - Running cash register, waiting on customers and re-stocking inventory
  • Clerical Support (non-patient) - Assist in various departments with answering phones, greeting customers, filing and making copies
  • Courier (non-patient) -Transporting items to various locations throughout hospital and assisting with discharging patients
  • Crafts (non-patient)—Provide homemade items for patients including but not limited to, shawls, blankets, quilts, and baby hats. Items can be made from home
  • Customer Service Clerical (non-patient) - Provide clerical and reception support for Customer Service and act as a resource for all, run errands
  • Emergency Department (patient) - Greet visitors. Attend to visitors in waiting area. Work in the patient treatment area restocking supplies. 
  • Food & Nutrition Service (non-patient) - Assist in cafeteria as needed, cleaning table, wipe trays, restocking
  • Infusion Center (patient) - Assist staff by tending to the patients, lab runs, and keeping supplies stocked
  • Medical Library (non-patient) - Assist patrons and Librarian with researching data bases for information. Must be able to use computer. Use Internet, e-mail, fax and phone to communicate with library patrons and with other libraries. Check in/out books fill requests for copies of articles. Currently not available 
  • Outpatient Registration (non-patient) - Greet patients and families in waiting area signing them in, escorting patients and running errands
  • Partners-Patient Care Units (patient) - Run errands to lab and Central Supply Room. Answer call lights, run to mailroom and general errands
  • Pet Therapy (patient) – Must successfully complete and be certified with Therapy Dogs, Inc. Dog must be at least 1-year of age and have current vaccinations
  • Plant Operations (non-patient) - Assist in making facility rounds to assure a safe EOC, provide minor repairs
  • Popcorn Popper (non-patient) - Make and sell popcorn in the lobby area. Clean machine after each shift. Popper is required to pop either outside or within the Food Services kitchen. Currently Not Available
  • Post Office (non-patient) - Fully functional facility; handle money, make change, learn postal procedures and computer
  • Pre-Procedural Testing (non-patient) - Greeting patients and families in waiting area signing them in, escort patients and run errands
  • Same Day Surgery Recovery (patient) - Getting patients something to drink, warm blanket, restocking supplies, discharging patients by wheelchair
  • Surgery Information Desk (non-patient) - Greeting and checking in families, taking families to the holding area to see patient before surgery
  • Trolley Driver (non-patient) - Driving golf cart around parking lot to pick up and drop off patients and visitors. Valid driver’s license, clear driving record 
  • Volunteer Resources (non-patient) - Greet visitors, answer phone, computer work, and filing

Offsite Facilities (Apply through LMH)

  • Child Development Center – Daycare facility for staff children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Provide reception, clerical and check-in support. Assist staff as needed. Fingerprinting and background check required  Currently not available
  • City Center Outpatient Rehab Center (non-patient) - Ensure a clean and orderly work station, wiping down mats, tables, ankle weights, balance equipment; straighten boots in between patients, keep waiting area neat and orderly; stock rooms
  • Regional Cancer Center
  • Lee Cancer Care Greeter (non-patient) - Greet and escort patients to treatment areas
  • Lobby Greeter - Assist patients and visitors with getting checked in, filling out forms, keeping the waiting room tidy and working with staff on various projects
  • Trolley Driver (non-patient) - Driving golf cart around parking lot to pick up and drop off patients and visitors. Valid driver’s license, clear driving record
  • Cookies Boutique  (non-patient) - Running cash register, waiting on customers and re-stocking inventory
  • The Sanctuary Outpatient Surgery Center (non-patient) – Greet, assist and direct patients, families and visitors. assemble charts, stock supplies, filing and making copies
