Biography:

Lewis Johnson, MS, CIH, CIC, FAPIC  is Lee Health’s Interim Director for Environmental Standards. He is responsible for establishing environmental infection prevention programs in water, ventilation, construction, and disinfection. He also implements the policies of the water management committee, and is member of the indoor air quality council. 

Lewis joined Lee Health in 2012 as an industrial hygienist to design and oversee infection control measures during construction. Since that time he has been active in projects across the system including pharmacy design and environmental compliance, disinfectant selection and consolidation, ventilation for infection control, exposure assessment, construction risk mitigation, and water quality and hygiene. 

Prior to joining Lee Health, Lewis was the founding director of environmental health and safety at Florida Gulf Coast University where he managed programs in environmental compliance, sustainability, research safety, and risk management. 

Lewis has a master’s in industrial health from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor of science in environmental education from Bowling Green State University. He is certified in both industrial hygiene and infection control, and is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. He has written and presented on the range of environmental infection control topics for national and regional audiences, and served on development and revision committees for ASHRAE and FGI publications addressing water quality, healthcare construction, and emergency conditions.
