Mission:
To advance the principles of clinical standardization and drive clinical excellence and resource stewardship by empowering clinicians to standardize clinical care and reduce clinical variation through the development of evidence-based medicine and best practice standards.
About:
The Quality and Clinical Standardization team provides guidance in the development of clinical standards and best practice guidelines by applying evidence-based medicine and best practice standards under the medical staff approved structure, the Clinical Collaboration Council, utilizing a multidisiplinary approach. The team is responsible for the oversight of select inpatient quality measures directed at improving patient safety, reducing mortality rates and decreasing the number of complications of care by identifying and exploring opportunities to improve process of care and outcome metrics.
Stephanie Teets, DNP, CNL, System Director Quality and Clinical Standardization
Biography:
Dr. Teets oversees the day-to-day operations of clinical quality programs at Lee Health, including directing the administrative, clinical, and evidence-based aspects of the Clinical Collaboration Council and its various Clinical Consensus Groups. Through this role, Dr. Teets also directs the improvement of quality measures that Lee Health reports to CMS, Leapfrog, and other external organizations.
Dr. Teets earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL, spending the first 15 years of her career working in various nursing roles including critical care. Dr. Teets earned a clinical nurse leader certification (CNL) in 2013 and grew passionately into quality and safety leadership roles in acute care hospitals within a large health system in Chicago. Dr. Teets also completed a doctorate degree in nursing in 2018 with an emphasis on transformative leadership and systems improvement from Rush University, Chicago.
In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, eating out, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family including her husband and two college age children.
