Cardiac Device Clinic

What is the Cardiac Device Clinic?

The Cardiac Device Clinic is a team of highly specialized staff comprised of Cardiac Device Specialists and Cardiac Device Service Coordinators. Our Cardiac Device Specialists manage implanted cardiac devices such as implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), pacemakers, and implantable loop recorders from all the major manufacturers such as Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Abbott/St. Jude, Biotronik, and Sorin/ELA.

Cardiac Device Service Coordinators' tasks include assisting patients with maintaining remote monitoring capabilities, scheduling appointments with the Cardiac Device Clinics, handling incoming calls to the Cardiac Device Clinic, and forwarding any concerns to the appropriate staff.

Our services include:

  • Post-implant surgical wound evaluations and wound care education for our patients
  • Evaluating implanted cardiac devices for proper functioning and adjusting as needed
  • Evaluating arrhythmia events that are recorded by implanted devices and escalating concerns to the Cardiologist
  • Reviewing remote data from patients’ home monitors
  • Scheduling routine checks of implanted cardiac devices

Our Cardiac Device Clinics are located within each of our outpatient Cardiology offices to conveniently serve our patients.

Lee Health's Cardiac Device Support & Monitoring

The Cardiac Device Specialists are an important part of your care team and are responsible for evaluating your implanted device at regular intervals and providing valuable information to your Cardiologist. We follow recommended guidelines by testing and evaluating your pacemaker or ICD function every 3 months or monthly for loop recorders. These evaluations can be performed in the office or by remote transmissions from a home monitor.

We provide remote monitoring services for your implanted cardiac device during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm) so your Cardiologist can address any device or arrhythmia concerns between your routine device checks. *Remote monitoring is a diagnostic tool only and should never be used in emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.

Our Cardiac Device Clinic team is available Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm at 239-343-6409 for any device related questions and for scheduling appointments to check your pacemaker.
