Back, Neck & Spine Treatment/Surgery
Spine Specialist: Identifying Neck and Back Pain
Your neck and back offers crucial support all day long, making them prone to pain from gradual wear and tear or sudden injuries. Conditions such as osteoporosis, spinal disorders, and herniated discs can lead to significant discomfort.
Our spine specialists will accurately diagnose the cause of your pain using advanced imaging tests and employ nonsurgical or minimally invasive treatments to help you return to an active, pain-free life.
Diagnostics for the Spine
To precisely determine the source of back and neck pain, Lee Health offers thorough and cutting-edge diagnostic services. Our experienced medical radiologists can provide the following imaging test:
Each patient's diagnosis is unique, with specific imaging tests recommended based on initial evaluations. Talk with your Lee Health doctor about which imaging tests are best for your condition.

- Axial Lumbar Interbody Fusion (XLIF): Minimally invasive spinal fusion performed through the side of the body.
- Artificial Disc Replacement: Replacement of a damaged lumbar disc with an artificial mechanical disc to restore motion between vertebrae.
- Discectomy: Removal of all or part of a damaged disc through an incision in the back.
- Foraminotomy: Shaving or removal of spinal bone to widen the area for nerve roots to exit the spinal canal.
- Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty: Insertion of a balloon-like device into the spine to open space filled with bone cement to relieve nerve compression.
- Laminoplasty: Incision in the neck to make cuts in the lamina bone and insert bone grafts stabilized with screws.
- Laminectomy: Removal of part or all of a lamina bone to allow more space for compressed spinal nerves.
- Microdiscectomy: Minimally invasive removal of the herniated portion of a disc through a small incision.
- Micro-laminectomy: Minimally invasive removal of bone spurs pressing on spinal nerves.
- Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression (MILD): Small incision to remove tissue causing nerve compression.
