Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS)
What is transoral robotic surgery (TORS)?
Patients with cancer in their mouth or throat can be hard to reach from a traditional surgical approach. Transoral robotic surgery is a procedure to treat head and neck cancer. The da Vinci surgical system has the ability to reach the back of a patient's throat, with shorter hospital time and faster overall recovery time.
What medical conditions does the transoral robotic surgery treat?
The da Vinci™ surgical system assists our surgeons to have more precise movements in the small spaces within the mouth. Surgeons at Lee Health can use the robot to treat these conditions:
- Head and neck cancer
- Throat cancer
- Oropharyngeal cancer
- Tonsil cancer
- Laryngeal cancer
- Hypopharyngeal cancer
- Sleep apnea
da Vinci™ SP (Single Port) Surgical System
da Vinci™ SP (Single Port) Surgical System
Our Lee Health surgeons use the da Vinci™ Surgical System, to operate through just a few small incisions. The da Vinci™ System features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand.
As a result, da Vinci™ enables your surgeon to perform your surgery with enhanced vision, precision, and control. Robotic transoral surgery enables you to recover faster and with less pain than traditional open surgery.
The da Vinci® SP provides a unique and new surgical approach to very invasive traditional alternatives.
