Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Lee Health non Hodgkin lymphoma

What is Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL)?

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is an immune system cancer that affects the lymphatic system. It happens when lymphocytes, which are white blood cells, grow into tumors. More people get NHL than Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Although a variety of cancers have the potential to move to the lymph nodes, only tumors that begin in the lymph tissue are classified as lymphomas.

There are B-cell lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma; most types of NHL have some categorization. From the American Cancer Society, there are around 85% of B-cell lymphoma cases in the United States.
